Do the arithmetic before you compare office movers, because it changes which quote is actually the cheapest one.
A twelve-person office that loses a morning hasn't lost a morning. It's lost twelve of them. Whatever you pay a moving crew, it's small next to a floor of people sitting in a half-built office waiting on a desk.
That's why the number worth optimizing isn't our hourly rate. It's how many working hours your team loses, and those two numbers usually pull in opposite directions.
Good office movers quote against the outage rather than against the furniture. Tell us when your people need to be sitting down and working, and we'll build the plan around that, not around a template.
Two Buildings, Two Sets of Rules
A house move has one difficult address. Office movers deal with two, and both of them have a building manager.
Elevators get reserved, usually for about an hour at a time. Docks have hours. Some buildings want the truck somewhere specific, and some won't let a crew past the lobby without arrangements made in advance by somebody with authority to make them.
Buildings set those rules, so the answers have to come from you. What we need is what you've been told: the freight elevator window at both ends, the dock hours, and roughly where a 26-foot truck can actually sit. We already know most of this city's streets and which ones a truck that size can get down.
Get those three answers from both buildings before you book. It's fifteen minutes of email that removes the most common reason an office move runs long.
Why a Bigger Crew Is Usually the Cheaper Move
Office moves are priced hourly, based on crew size and truck. Which means a smaller crew looks cheaper on the estimate and is frequently the more expensive decision.
Four movers on a twenty-desk office stretches the job. Eight movers compress it. The line item goes up. The outage comes down, and the outage is where your real money is.
Most local moves finish in a single day, and an office is no exception if the crew is sized for the actual job. We'd rather talk you into the crew that finishes in one day than write you a smaller number that costs you two.

Getting Back to Work, Not Just Getting Moved
An office move isn't finished when the truck is empty. It's finished when people can work.
So here's what we do and where the edges are.
Desks and tables that have to come apart to clear a door come apart, and go back together at the other end. What we took apart, we put back. Furniture your team assembled themselves and took apart themselves, we won't rebuild, because we never saw how it came apart and a desk somebody guesses at is a desk that wobbles for two years.
Boxes go where you tell us, by desk, not dumped in the nearest open floor space.
Everything is protected for travel, with protection appropriate for the distance of the move.
And anything heavy needs to be on the estimate rather than discovered on the day. A safe, a plotter, a piece of equipment nobody mentioned, changes how many movers should have shown up and how they should have shown up equipped.
Here's our standard: if we wouldn't load it that way for our own mother, we don't load it that way for you. You point, we carry.
Who Packs the Desks
This is the decision that shapes your whole move, and most offices make it by accident.
Option one, your people pack their own desks. It's free and it's fast, and there's a catch worth knowing upfront: we can't take responsibility for what's inside a box we didn't pack, because we never saw it go in. On a house that's a minor thing. Across thirty desks of monitors and personal effects, it's a real decision.
Option two, our packers do it. Ask at the estimate and it goes in the plan.
Either way, two things are on you. We don't supply boxes, tape, or packing materials, so order those in advance and order more than anybody thinks you need. And whatever gets packed should be labeled by person or by desk number rather than by room, because "Accounting" is not an instruction when Accounting is nine people and you're the one being asked where the box goes.

Start from when your people need to be sitting down and working, then work backwards. Most local moves finish in a single day with a properly sized crew, so the lever that matters most isn't the date, it's how many movers we send and how packed you are when we arrive.

Either way works, and it's worth deciding deliberately rather than by default. If your team packs, we'll move those boxes but we can't take responsibility for the contents, since we never saw them go in. If you'd rather not hand that to thirty people, we have packers available. Tell us at the estimate.

What we took apart comes back together before we leave, so yes for anything we disassembled. Furniture your team assembled and took apart themselves is the exception, because we never saw how it came apart.

We'll move it. Whether we rebuild it depends on who took it apart. If we do the disassembly, we do the reassembly. If your team already broke it down, that part is on your team.

That gets set at your estimate, not by a formula. Crew size and truck are what the price is built on, so it's the number we spend the most time getting right. Bring the headcount, both addresses and the building access details, and that's the conversation.
